Quinn the Girl was originally just another WordPress travel blog that I created as a way to keep my close friends and family informed of the happenings in my life during my time overseas. It has slowly evolved into a personal venue of self-exploration by means of the written word, and now grants me the opportunity to practice my craft while simultaneously developing greater comfort in sharing my writing and personal experiences.
The aim of this blog is based on, and inspired by, a particular quote by poet Mary Oliver that epitomizes the existence of Quinnthegirl.com:
“Instructions for living a life.
Tell about it.”
For me, fostering observational habits and recording occurrences in the world around me is the most affective way to avoid living passively and blandly. I hope that, in the process, a few people will at least be entertained by the content that I’ve posted here.
Currently Quinnthegirl.com is following my journey through National Novel Writing Month as I attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 Days. Recently, it portrayed my experiences working as a Backcountry Campsite Caretaker for the Appalachian Mountain Club in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Before that, it chronicled my brief time in India during the summer or 2014.
